Body Posture – The Imaginary String
Normal wear and tear on the body creates aches and pains that can be decreased by improving our posture. Good posture leads to looking and feeling better. The earlier we start working on posture, the higher the possibility is for decreasing the amount of aches and pains.
Body posture can be a complicated thing to focus on. You hear things like roll your shoulders back, tuck your hips under, suck your stomach in, hold your head high, and stick out your chest.
There are just too many things to focus on. That is why I want to share the rule of the imaginary string with you. This rule can help correct many posture problems by just focusing on one thing instead of many while walking around.
The only way to truly understand the imaginary string is if you get up and try the right way and the wrong way so you could feel the difference. Most people walk around with an imaginary string pulling them from their sternum or their chest. This is the wrong way to walk and will give you all kinds of Back Pain. The correct way, is to imagine a string attached three fingers width below your navel and pulling you along as you walk. This imagery string will help correct poor posture and decrease aches and pains in the neck, hips, upper, and lower back. The imaginary string rule is a good start to correcting body posture for old and young.
